Favorite Products and Toys at Age 1

Paloma turned one a few months ago and we’ve been figuring out the transition from baby to toddler. This is such a fun age and I love watching her learn to walk, talk a bit (right now her word list includes “dada” and uh-oh”, but we’re working on it…) and play independently. Of course we still have the necessities to make life with a little one a bit easier and I wanted to share a few products and toys that we swear by lately.

Stainless Sippy Cup

I’m happy to be out of the cleaning bottles all day phase, but now it’s sippy cups and figuring out which one Paloma likes best and requires the least amount of parts to clean. This one is easy for her to drink from, hold and is durable. I bought it in two colors and we use it just about every day.

Silicone Placemat and Bento Box

This placemat is always in my diaper bag and we use it every time we eat out somewhere and I love the bento box for travel as well. They’re made by Austin Baby Collection, a company started by an Austin mom (and friend!). They come in pastel colors with cute patterns and are easy to clean.

Diaper Backpack

I originally bought this Paperclip backpack before Paloma was born which was pre-Covid when we thought we would be traveling a lot with a baby and I thought this looked like a great bag. And although we didn’t travel as much when she was really young, it has been a great bag. It fits everything we need for Paloma and the straps are really comfortable.

Lightweight Stroller

This is the most compact stroller on the market and folds up so easily. It’s great for travel and stays in my trunk, so we can use it any time. We were so sad to have to say goodbye to the Doona, which might be my favorite baby item ever, but this a great one if you want something easy. It folds up so small you can bring it on a plane and store it in the overhead compartment.

Table Chair

We bring this whenever we go out to eat somewhere and it’s so easy to use. I like having our own chair for P instead of using one that belongs to the restaurant. This also keeps her securely in the chair when want her to focus on eating.

Baby Bike

My mother-in-law bought this for Paloma for her first birthday and it’s so cute to see her balance on it and ride it around the house. Runner loved his balance bike at a young age and this seems like a good intro bike as she’s learning to walk.

DUPLO Blocks

We’ve had these since Run was little and they’ve always been a favorite. The large size makes them great for tiny hands and for learning toddlers. I love seeing Paloma figure out how to put them together and take them apart.

Wooden Musical Instruments

These natural wood mini percussion instruments are perfect for kids. We bought a set for Run when he was little and I love seeing Paloma make noise with them too.

Snug-a-Bug Musical Critter

Little ones love toys that make sounds and music and this one is so cute. It’s soft with colorful fabric legs that teach colors, shapes and music notes.

Bubble Fidget Toy

These are super popular with kids right now and I can see why. It’s a great little sensory toy and they love the little popping sound. I throw one in my diaper bag and it’s a great travel toy.

Water Table

We got Paloma a water table for her first birthday and it’s been a hit all summer. She loves splashing, filling up cups and dipping toys in the water. It’s been a great afternoon activity on hot days.
