Dessert Board for Valentine's (or Galentine's) Day

Food boards are really having a moment right now. A grand, glorious moment that I hope has no end in sight. I’m a big fan of food boards. What’s not to like about a variety of snacks that typically fall under a certain theme and cover every inch of a serving tray, making it easy to graze to your heart’s content? Plus they’re very photogenic. Just search Instagram and you’ll find a number of accounts dedicated to food boards with thousands of followers.

I’ve been known to put together a cheese and charcuterie tray any time I have people over or help host a shower. So, last year for a Galentine’s party I thought, why not a dessert tray? I wanted to recreate that this year, but add in cheese because cheese and chocolate are just meant to coexist in my opinion.

Another great thing about food boards is that they’re pretty easy to put together. It’s not so much about preparation, but presentation. The key is to have enough food items to cover your tray or board and a variety of things to add texture and color and make the board more visually appealing. For this Valentine’s themed board, I decided I wanted to buy a variety of chocolate snacks and cookies, berries, several types of cheese and then I found “XO” gummies and heart jelly beans for fun accents on top.

I bought everything at Trader Joe’s because they have great seasonal snacks and a good cheese selection that’s reasonably priced. (**This is not an add or sponsored post, but I do LOVE Trader Joe’s).

Here’s what I used:

Dark chocolate covered pretzel thins

Dark chocolate peanut butter cups

Chocolate heart shaped cookies with sprinkles

Mini brownies

Trader Joe’s “XO” Gummies
